What Is Vodafone Makani Internet?
Vodafone Makani Internet is a portable 5G home internet service from Vodafone Oman.
Unlike traditional fixed broadband, Makani is designed around a portable internet device. You can power up the device and connect your phones, laptops, smart TVs and other Wi-Fi devices without requiring a traditional fixed-line installation.
This makes Vodafone Makani particularly interesting for people who want home Wi-Fi but also value the ability to move their internet connection between supported locations.
The service is available through Vodafone Oman and requires the Makani device and SIM associated with the service.
Vodafone Makani 24 – OMR 24
Makani 24 is the entry-level Vodafone Makani Internet plan.
Makani 24 includes:
- Price: OMR 24
- Contract: 12 months
- Data: 500GB Open Data
- Network: Vodafone 5G
- Fast download and upload speeds
- Portable Makani device
- Plug-and-play setup
Makani 24 is a good option if you regularly browse the web, use social media, watch videos, attend online classes and occasionally stream content but do not want to pay for an unlimited plan.
For a small household or moderate internet user, 500GB can provide a substantial amount of monthly data.
Vodafone Makani 29 – OMR 29
Makani 29 increases the data allowance to 900GB while keeping the 12-month commitment.
Makani 29 includes:
- Price: OMR 29
- Contract: 12 months
- Data: 900GB Open Data
- 5G connectivity
- Fast download and upload speeds
- Portable internet device
- Plug-and-play setup
This plan is a strong middle-ground option for families and users who consume a lot of video content, use multiple connected devices or work from home.
If 500GB may feel restrictive but you do not necessarily need unlimited data, Makani 29 can be the more balanced choice.
Vodafone Makani 34 – Unlimited Internet
For users who consume large amounts of data, Makani 34 is the most attractive option in the current Vodafone Makani lineup.
Makani 34 includes:
- Price: OMR 34
- Contract: 12 months
- Data: Unlimited
- 5G connectivity
- Fast download and upload speeds
- Portable Makani device
- Plug-and-play setup
Vodafone currently markets Makani 34 with unlimited data, making it the plan to consider for heavy internet usage.
It can be suitable for households with multiple users, frequent streaming, remote work, large downloads and other high-data activities.
Is Vodafone Makani Internet Really Unlimited?
Yes. The current Makani 34 plan is listed by Vodafone Oman as providing Unlimited Data.
However, there is an important distinction between unlimited data and guaranteed unlimited maximum speed.
Vodafone’s official Makani page describes the service as offering uncapped 5G speeds, but your actual connection speed can vary depending on factors such as:
- 5G coverage at your location
- Network traffic
- Indoor signal strength
- Device placement
- Local network conditions
- Number of connected devices
Therefore, users should not assume that a specific fixed Mbps speed is guaranteed everywhere.
Vodafone Makani 5G Internet Speed
Vodafone markets Makani as a 5G internet service with fast download and upload speeds.
One important point for customers is that Vodafone’s current public Makani page does not list fixed maximum speeds such as 75 Mbps, 100 Mbps or 150 Mbps for the three plans.
Instead, the current plans are differentiated primarily by their data allowance:
- Makani 24 — 500GB
- Makani 29 — 900GB
- Makani 34 — Unlimited
The actual 5G performance you receive will depend on your location, network conditions, coverage and other technical factors.
Vodafone Makani Internet Coverage in Oman
One of the biggest advantages of Makani is portability.
Vodafone says Makani gives customers the freedom to move the device and use the service in Oman, subject to network availability and applicable service conditions.
This can be useful if you:
- Move between homes
- Stay at a second residence
- Travel within Oman
- Work from different locations
- Need internet without installing a fixed broadband line
Before purchasing, it is always a good idea to check Vodafone’s coverage for the location where you plan to use the service.
Can You Take Vodafone Makani Anywhere in Oman?
Makani is designed as a portable internet service rather than a traditional fixed home broadband connection.
Vodafone promotes Total Portability, allowing customers to take their internet with them in Oman.
However, portability does not mean that the service will provide the same performance everywhere. The quality of your connection depends on Vodafone network coverage at the location.
In other words, Makani gives you much more flexibility than traditional fixed broadband, but you should still consider 5G coverage before moving the device to a new location.
Does Vodafone Makani Need Installation?
One of the biggest advantages of Vodafone Makani Internet Oman is the simple setup.
Vodafone describes Makani as a Plug & Play service and states that no installation is needed.
The basic process is:
- Visit a Vodafone Store.
- Get your Makani device and service.
- Take the device to your location.
- Plug it into power.
- Connect your devices to the Makani Wi-Fi network.
- Start using the internet.
This can be much simpler than arranging a traditional fixed-line installation.
Is Vodafone Makani Good for Families?
Yes, especially if your household uses multiple devices.
A typical modern family may have:
- Smartphones
- Smart TVs
- Laptops
- Tablets
- Gaming consoles
- Security cameras
- Smart home devices
With several devices using the internet at the same time, having a large data allowance can be important.
For moderate family usage, Makani 29 with 900GB may offer a good balance between price and data.
For very heavy usage, Makani 34 with unlimited data is the more suitable option.
Is Vodafone Makani Good for Streaming?
Vodafone Makani can be a good choice for users who frequently stream video content over a 5G connection.
It can be used for activities such as:
- YouTube
- Netflix
- Social media video
- Online classes
- Video calls
- Music streaming
- Smart TV streaming
If several people in your home stream videos regularly, consider Makani 29 or Makani 34 rather than the 500GB Makani 24 plan.
Keep in mind that streaming quality, especially HD and 4K, can consume significant amounts of data.
Is Vodafone Makani Good for Gaming?
Makani’s 5G connection can be useful for online gaming, but gamers should consider more than download speed.
Gaming performance depends heavily on:
- Ping/latency
- Network stability
- 5G signal quality
- Server location
- Network congestion
- Wi-Fi quality
For casual and online gaming, Makani may work well where Vodafone’s 5G network is strong.
However, competitive gamers should test the connection at their exact location before relying on it as their primary gaming connection.
Vodafone Makani vs Traditional Home Internet
The biggest difference between Makani and traditional fixed broadband is portability.
Vodafone Makani advantages:
- 5G connectivity
- Portable internet device
- No traditional installation
- Plug-and-play setup
- Multiple data options
- Unlimited option available
- Can be moved between supported locations
Traditional fixed broadband advantages:
- Usually designed for a fixed location
- Fiber can provide very stable performance where available
- Often suitable for households requiring consistent high-bandwidth connectivity
If you move frequently or do not want to deal with fixed-line installation, Makani can be particularly attractive.
If you live permanently in one location and fiber is available with strong performance, comparing both options before choosing is recommended.

The best Vodafone Makani plan depends on your monthly internet usage.
Choose Makani 24 if:
